Les Wolford, originally from the Bay Area, started his cooking career in New York, working summers at Charcoli's Restaurant. In 1974 he landed his first real cooking position at the Way Station in South Lake Tahoe. He built a history at many of the fine restaurants at the Lake. In need of a change as he had always loved horses, he put together a string for the handicapped and led trail rides out of the White Horse Meadows.
He then went to school, became a renowned farrier, working with veterinarians and U.C.Davis to improve the lives of horses nation wide. In 1994 he met Ray and Abigail Pinoche. He became their sous chef and then part owner of the much celebrated Red Pony Cafe in El Dorado County, CA. After a bad winter the highway corridor was closed and so was the Red Pony Cafe.
Les came to the Central Coast of California settling in the Santa Ynez Valley. He was the Executive Chef at the Village Country Club for 3 years. He has been catering since 1995, developing a fusion of all his years of Continental gourmet cooking with barbeque and slow smoking techniques.
Les has such a touch with food and flair for menus he has been popular with many of the TV and film celebrities cooking for their functions and gatherings. He would love to cook for your function and customize the menu to your needs. As far as your concerned your just as much a celebrity as anyone he has ever cooked for.
Feel free to talk to him. He is the kind of guy that is easy to talk to and will become your friend.
